Overall, this was a very good and entertaining volume. It’s rather amusing the see our main characters through the eyes of someone who knows nothing about them but I didn’t find the story all that memorable in the end. There’s an urban legend at school where if you touch the palmtop tiger, you will gain happiness, and the first-year is determined to do just that. This volume also contains the short story “The Palmtop Tiger of Happiness” which focuses on a 1st-year member of the student council who has yet to make any friends. It’s just a fun character quirk and I now have the headcanon that Ami is a Rei Hino fan. I also love the way she sometimes refers to herself as “Ami-chan”.

I really enjoyed seeing Taiga bring out this side of Ami that’s really repulsive but is also far more honest and courageous than her usual self and I loved seeing the ways they insulted each other (”oh, look, doesn’t this piece of trash remind you of Ami?” “Ah, this is such a tiny piece of trash, it sure does look like Taiga.” XD). She’s just such a bitch and I love her for it. She seems like a really nice person to most people but is quick to drop the act and behave vilely to people she doesn’t like and she really doesn’t like Taiga.Īmi’s the kind of character who would suck in real life but is really fun to watch and read about. Ami is a super model and is Kitamura’s childhood friend. They go there and they happen to meet Kitamura, his parents and Ami, the cover heroine for this volume. She’s also introduced him to the cafe where Minori works and he keeps on requesting to go there to see her. Taiga has been basically living at Ryuuji’s house and has been eating there and going grocery shopping with him pretty much every day. This volume starts on the last day of Golden Week. Please check it out if you are interested in the series.
